Skin-Care Obsession

Had to LOL at this Buzzfeed list [it’s at buzzfeed.com/natalyalobanova/cleansing-your-face-cleansing-your-soul] not because so many of them apply to me but because just about all of them apply to my fiancée. She’s fairly well obsessed (by her own admission, I hasten to point out!) with her skin and putting on anything and everything that purports to make it feel better to her and look younger to everyone else. I think she even fits a few of these warning signs [at blog.mariobadescu.com/skin-care-9] too. Right now, she’s using something called Sunday Riley [talked about here at allure.com/story/sunday-riley-skin-care-facts] and some stuff called M61 [talked about here at miami.com/miami-news/great-news-beauty-product-buffs-bluemercury-now-open-on-south-beach-173382].

I love my fiancée very much and I expect to love her much more far into the future...though I am a bit curious as to from where her vain streak comes. Everyone knows that L.A. is the place with the “skin-care-obsessed culture” [like it says verbatim in this headline at latimes.com/fashion/la-ig-bluemercury-20171020-story.html]. Los Angeles is the la-la-land Mecca of botox and silicone and high colonics and mudbaths and the quest for never-ending youthfulness…but she’s from Bakersfield.
